Difference between 'fear' and 'respect'

Fear and respect are two different emotions of human race which is natural but varies according to human needs and situation. Fear is basically an emotional state in humans, which projects negative gestures such as worrying, being petrified, or having bad intuition, when they feel threatened from different kind of sources such as feeling of insecurity, loosing something, being attacked etc.

People often react to fear by panicking, worrying, or even escaping it. Respect on the other hand is a human emotion which is positive gesture of admiration, adoration and acknowledgement, which is given to people for their good deeds, achievements, qualities or status in the society. Therefore it is said that, a-like wealth, respect is also earned because people only give respect naturally to those who they feel, deserves it. We respect people whom we consider our idol, such as parents, teachers, famous personalities, legends.

Both the emotions are different in nature, somehow they relate to each other varying according to situations. Sometimes respect is also forced because of fear that people have in their minds. For e.g. children are taught how to respect their elders from their childhood, and they grow up following and practicing it in their daily lives, parents too feel their children are following what they say and are happy with it. But that creates a kind of fear in children, which consequently, compels them to not being able to express or share their feelings, lie or cheat, with the parents ultimately creating a communication gap and dishonesty in them.

We think we respect our parents, teachers, bosses and our elders by sometimes forcing ourselves in obeying them, being happy in whatever they decide for us without caring about our own happiness, which our elders take it as respect, but eventually it is fear that compels us to do so, and that is fear mistaken as respect and that is the major difference between these two emotions.

Respect is something that we need to earn and give, but fear is something which human should not have. With respect we can always live life with dignity, integrity, pride and have the confidence to contribute for the betterment of the society, whereas fear creates negative feeling in humans, lowers people’s confidence and positive attitude towards life,  so we should overcome our fears.

Difference between 'confidence' and 'arrogance'

Humans have different nature and personality. There are different characteristics of the nature that people have. Both arrogance and confidence are the aspects of the human nature. Arrogance is a negative personality trait which projects self-centeredness, offensive display of superiority and thoughts, negative sense of pride. Arrogance is never accepted positively in the society by people. Arrogance makes people dominating in nature, and make them believe that people other than themselves, are not worthy of judging or correcting them. These kinds of people are never ready to accept their weakness, bad qualities habits, defeat, instead will only display their strength falsely. They also can only acknowledge others weaknesses but will not acknowledge others strength. They can turn any conversation into an offensive argument without caring about others opinions, thoughts or views.

Confidence is one the aspect of human nature, which comes when people have a positive belief in themselves. It projects knowing oneself, having faith in their abilities, capabilities and their nature, a positive attitude, facing the world and expressing their thoughts, presence and status in the society, without any fear or hesitation as they. Apart from making people believe in both their positive and negative sides of their nature, confidence makes people accept others strength and weakness. They accept all kinds of judgement and opinions made on them.

These two characteristics are different between these two human characteristics. For e.g.  Two people among which one is a confident person and the other is an arrogant person are in a multinational company for an interview for the post of a manager. A confident person will present his skills but also his flaws, he will also project his tolerance, calmness, positive body language, optimistic attitude, acceptance of both positive and negative remark and opinions, but will ultimately make the interviews believe that he is worth it, by making it evident for the interview to believe him, whereas the arrogant person will not be able to agree to the negative questions asked to him. He will try to prove his point by bluffing or stubbornness  this person may not even care whatever the circumstances will be. He will argue in case if he does not agree with the opinions of the interviewers.

Confidence helps us win in any kind of difficult situations, establish and maintain healthy public relations, make us satisfied and help us live a successful life, whereas arrogance makes us lose our positiveness, make us and odd one in the crowd, and a bad example. Thus we should develop our confidence in order to make way to success and we should avoid arrogance, as it creates negativity in us and makes us selfish, and unsuccessful.

Roles that I played

I start my day as an individual who exists in this world, with a new agenda for the day, anticipation of meeting different people, facing problems, working, having fun,  basically playing different roles. So below are different roles I have played.

Role of a good son
Every morning I wake up as an individual, after I prepare myself to face the world, the first role I play is of a key member of the family, as I am the only son. I played the role of a good son. I started my day with their blessing, and serving them. I shopped for the daily necessities of the day, and then I helped my mother with preparing the breakfast, had it together my family. My parents were very happy with my deeds reacting positively. The main thing that matters to me is the happiness of my family and as a reflection of my good deeds for my family I got back the same response and love from them.

Role of a good brother
As I have two younger sisters, I also have responsibility as a brother and also played the role accordingly. One day, I was busy with my own assignments, when my youngest sister came to me and urged me to help with her school assignment. Though I was very busy,  I helped her complete the assignment, completed mine as well, and later took her outing for an ice-cream treat, which made her relieved and happy, and it mattered a lot to me.

Role of an ideal friend
Apart from family there is a very interesting world, where everybody is happy to play one role, which is of a friend. A friend in need is a friend indeed so I have played the role of a good friend,  I was going to my college as usual, when I got a call from my friend, and I came to know his father is in a very serious condition, and is admitted to the hospital. I rushed there, and upon reaching I helped him in every possible way I could from getting the cash, medicines, bloods and also food for him, so that he would not have to bother and could stay beside his father. I also stayed in the hospital with him to support him.

Role of a good student
I am student, doing my graduation, and I played the role of an ideal student at my college. I still remember that was my third day of my first semester. I was new to the college, my lecturers and my fellow students. So it was the best time to introduce and establish myself as an ideal student. I started off with the first tutorial class where I interacted with the teacher with ample questions, and queries, trying to build rapport, completed the given tutorial task within the allotted time, and also eased the ambience of the class with little humor  which made him interested in teaching the class and also made the tutor acquaint with the nature of his students. He had a smile on his face upon leaving the class.
